The YouTube Channel is Coming Together
I used to do a lot on YouTube, but that was a long, long time ago on an Internet far, far away. We’re talking pre-Google era YouTube when it was still the Wild West and creators could do just about anything. Then Google bought it, destroyed my channel because I used a lot of music in my videos, and pretty much made creating on YouTube a fucking bore.
For years, however, I’ve always thought about coming back but I never really knew what I could do and since they seem to get stricter and stricter, as time goes on, every time I got the itch, it was quickly cured. I really didn’t want to put a lot into it only to have it destroyed and wiped off of the Internet like so many channels I have enjoyed over the years.
Luckily, there are other alt-tech platforms out there, which I will mirror my content to (Rumble and others I’m considering). Because if my shit gets shut down, which let’s be honest, is likely, I’ll be able to hopefully shift my audience to a better platform.
Frankly, I don’t want to use YouTube at all, but it is still where most people are and it gives me the best outlet to build up an audience, even if I won’t be able to stay there after a gaggle of weirdos finds something to be “offended” by.
Anyway, I’m not even sure what I’m going to do with the channel yet. Although, I am thinking of doing streams once (or twice) a week with other people in the Iron Age. Sort of like panel discussions and hangouts. Granted, I haven’t brought this up until just now. Also, I don’t want to stream at the same time as others in the space or step on their toes.
I’m not sure what the end result or the goal is other than I personally want to get more comfortable talking in front of other people again. I’m pretty confident in my writing and my art, but not so much with public speaking. And if I’m ever going to start doing things like signings, talks, and cons, I want to have a lot of practice and to feel more comfortable.
