The Next "Barbarians of the Storm" Book Has Begun!

...the first pages of the final story arc (and 9th book overall) have been written

Well, I am already kind of ahead of where I thought I would be with the next book. Granted, it’s still very, very early in the writing stage but the opening scene in the main story is taking shape and there are words written across multiple pages already.

The opening chapter is a big one that will require some careful crafting and I’m sure a lot of massaging to get the kinks out. However, it’s not just the set up for this next Erzulyn focused story, but it is the set up for the final act of the whole Barbarians of the Storm saga.

Maybe I was just in the right mindset of dread to kick off this dark fantasy horror tale, as I started writing it while a big hurricane was barreling towards my state. While I did not get the direct hit from the storm, I got a lot of the effects of it as it slowly crept by, just off the coast. Oddly, I did not lose power and I kept working on the opening scene through the two days of high winds and intense waves of rain from the outer bands.

I’m not sure how quickly I will turn this book around as a whole, as it will feature multiple stories. Plus, I do not know how long this main tale will be. I know the beginning, the end, and some of what comes in-between, but I want the story to steer itself in a lot of ways. Although, new ideas for it keep coming to me rapidly, so I have to jot them down as quickly as I can in my Moleskine.

For now, this is it. I would like to get back to working on the book itself. I just wanted to announce that the writing process has officially begun. I will update the progress here but I will probably give more immediate updates on my Twitter profile. So, follow me there if you haven’t.
