Did you like Eyes in All Shadows & Other Stories? If so, I think you’re going to really like what’s coming in the next anthology. However, this one doesn’t lean as heavily into horror as EIAS. Granted, there will be some horrific stuff and monsters, but it’s more of a straight forward sword & sorcery/planet collection.
Now that a short story for another publication is done, I can focus all my writing energy on the next book. The real job is still going to be a pain in the ass when it comes to balancing my creative juices, but it’s a mountain I’ve been climbing this whole time. At least for now, I seem to be okay, after a few weeks of incredible stress. As I said a few posts back, however, the only way out is forward.
With this anthology, I am going to start with the biggest story first. Last time around, I did the same thing. Focusing on the main event helps set the tone for the total package. The one thing that these stories do have in common is that they will add a lot of context and details for what I have planned for Book IV in the main saga. As of now, I plan to write that after this anthology.
This anthology needed to come first, however, because I like to reward the completists and it will give them so much to look forward to when Book IV comes around. A lot has happened in regards to Dan’s search for Elizabeth, as well as some other things surrounding that. This book will feature the first Elizabeth adventure and it is indeed her first adventure, after she ended up in a barbarous world searching for her man.
The other stories will be a mixture of prequel and sequel. Each one exists to setup events in Book IV and beyond. As for what’s planned right now, there are stories featuring Fenrik & Erzulyn, Magnar (Fenrik’s brother), Killer & Bozmir, Théorn & Gútred (Palus), and Kornfel & Tibrüt.
For now, that’s it. I have work to do and just wanted to let it be known that the next book is now officially underway.
