Enough has happened in the last week to provide a pretty substantial update (finally).
For the next book, I have completed the 1st and 2nd acts of the main story, as well as the accompanying short story. All of this has also been proofed, edited, and beefed up.
If I am being honest, I was worried that this book was a shitty mess and terrible due to my headspace when writing most of it. I’m happy to say that it needed some cleaning up and fine tuning but I love the hell out of this story so far and it is very different than previous Fenrik adventures. Rereading it kind of reinvigorated me and helped boost my waning confidence.
This book has also let me scratch some creative itches I’ve had in regards to writing in other genres. While it builds directly off the main story in Fenrik 1984, it is very much its own thing. So much so, that I changed the title from Fenrik 1992 to a title that I will reveal in the next few weeks, along with the book’s cover, which is done.
As of this morning, I started the 3rd and final act and finished a scene and a half. The first three chapters of this act will most likely be the most difficult of the book, but I am aiming to try and have them done this week. After that, the rest of the story is pretty straightforward and should flow out of me fairly quickly.
Because of where I am at and the great progress this past week, I set a deadline to have the book finished and published by the first of next month. Although, that first weekend is Labor Day, so it may be just after that. I am shooting to have it done before, though. I’ll keep readers posted as things develop more over the next few weeks.
Since I haven’t been using Substack as much, the best place to get more immediate updates is by following me on X/Twitter here. I’ve been giving almost daily updates there, especially over the last few weeks.
For now, that’s it! I need to spend my time on getting this book done.
