As I stated in some previous posts, I had a plan to monetize this Substack with some weekly “premium” posts. I outlined what I was thinking in regards to that, but I just don’t think it’s feasible, right now.
Initially, I wanted to post a weekly Substack exclusive chapter for serialized short stories. Well, I thought I could do that while also writing the books in the Barbarians of the Storm series. I tried, I failed. It is what it is.
That doesn’t mean that the idea is dead, but for now and probably the rest of this year, I need to focus on specifically writing the books and building my audience. My first year was much better than I had anticipated but this year truly is what I feel will be the “make or break” period for me.
If things continue to grow and expand, I hope that I am in a position next year, where I don’t have to put new books out as frequently as I have been. If I can get there and be happy with where things are at, I can devote some time on the side to working on short stories that will also exist within the Barbarians of the Storm universe.
I’ve been mulling this over a lot lately and figured that it was time to just address it, after coming to this conclusion.
As far as the stories I mentioned previously, they will all probably be included in the next anthology book.
Another reason for me pulling the plug on monetization, for now, is that the stories I want to tell need to come out before I do the eventual Book IV, later in the year. A lot of it is tales that will give more context and background information on core characters and events from the main series of books. Specifically, I need to have the Killer short story and the Palus origin story out before Book IV.
I’ll keep everyone posted on what develops, as I get closer to those stories and beyond the current book that I am writing.
I understand. Don't get frustrated. Time is a rare commodity and writing a novel takes a lot, especially with work/family concerns.
By the way I have your book 1 coming in soon. Looking forward to it.
