Other Books to Come Out Under Talking Pulp Press
Before I wrote Dan the Destructor and kicked off the Barbarians of the Storm book series, I had been writing in various places for years but mostly on blogs that I created: Talking Pulp (formerly Cinespiria), The Distinguished Grizzly, The Swash, FormulaXX and Horrorbox Cinema. Some of my writings for The Swash (a politics and economics blog) were published in four different books from 2010 to 2013.
With Talking Pulp, the site that this publishing imprint spun-off from, I had my longest running blog, which still isn’t officially dead… it’s just on hiatus. Also, spending half a decade there writing about films, books, comics and everything else I dig, I’ve always wanted to compile a lot of it and release it as books focused on genres or themes.
For instance, I want to compile all of my reviews of movies featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000 and release that as one book. I have reviewed all of them, by the way. I also want to do a book on kaiju/tokusatsu reviews, one on film-noir, one on giallo, as well as eventually getting to books on slashers, sword & sorcery, sci-fi, spaghetti westerns, and just about every other unique film genre that doesn’t get a lot of love from the general public.
I’m currently writing the sequel to Dan the Destructor, but when I need mental breaks from it, I’m going to start compiling the material I’ve written for Talking Pulp into these various books.
Nothing is set in stone yet and I don’t have a time frame but I would definitely like to have a few of these out by year’s end. However, the Barbarians of the Storm series is still the priority, just so that’s clear.
