I've Been Back On Track Since the Last Post
...you just have to push through the rougher moments
Writing the last post and getting that shit out, helped me flush it from my system. By the end of that day, I was getting back on track and refocused.
While I’m still not moving at my preferred speed, I have written two chapters since Monday, and I am closing in on the third act of the main story. Granted, this book will probably take some extra time to edit and massage into what it needs to be. That’s something that doesn’t usually take too long, but being that this upcoming story has a lot of new characters and a vastly different setting, I just need to fine tune the hell out of it.
I still plan to do the short story at the end of the book, and I already know what it is, as the first chapter of it is already written. It’s a subplot that I ended up extracting from Swords Against Bastards to keep that book more fluid and focused on what it most needed.
The real job has just been taxing as fuck, lately. That’s not something that is going to change until at least mid-July. Even then, I will still have a lot on my plate. Unfortunately, the real job is something that effects my overall creative output, as I work in a creative career.
My friends keep telling me to take a nice, long vacation. I don’t have the time or the money for that and all vacations do is give me more shit I have to catch up on.
That being said, I am trying to alter my writing goals for the year and shoot for something more realistic.
After the current book I’m working on, I want to do another anthology of short stories. Following that, I’d like to do Book IV of the Barbarians of the Storm saga. My current goal is to be able to get this all done by the end of the year. I guess, we shall see.
