It's the 3rd Anniversary of the "Barbarians of the Storm" Series

...9 books in under 3 years, but here we are with a few left to come

I did not realize that it was the 3rd anniversary of the Barbarians of the Storm book series until my phone’s calendar alerted me a few minutes ago. So, it’s three years to the date that Dan the Destructor was officially published, and in that time, the series has swelled to nine books with two (probably) left to come in the saga. Granted, I have some plans beyond that, but none of the later stuff is set in stone.

Anyway, getting this saga done has been the main focus of my life, despite life being an absolute asshole the last 18 months or so. It’s this series and pushing through to finish it that has been my motivator to get out of bed on most days. That being said, I have sacrificed things in life that would have served me better in a personal way. Like taking better care of myself and putting a lot more time into trying to overcome some of the big problems I need to fix like health, finances, and living in a place that is impossible to afford since this shitty decade fucked everything up.

While I feel like I am writing for an audience of three on most days, I started this series as a challenge to myself and to write the stories that I wanted in the world. I’m just glad that a few people also enjoy them and have stuck around this deep into a series when we live in a time where major writers never finish their sagas. Not wanting to be one of those novelists, I do not want to let anyone down, even if it is just a few people.

Well, this is coming across as kind of depressing. I don’t mean it to be, I just mean to be honest about shit. So, I guess I should acknowledge this date as the start of this journey for better or for worse. In the long-term, I still believe all of this will have been for the better, as new people are still discovering the Barbarians of the Storm series and its weird twists, turns, and surprises.

Okay, I have taken enough of your time and no one reads this Substack anymore, anyway. By this time next year, I assume this saga will be done and I will be writing something else entirely or more with some of these core characters. Or maybe I’ll ride off in the sunset with more time to go to the gym and outside in general.
