I have been on the longest break between writing projects that I’ve had in probably a decade. I once took a year off after spending three years writing about politics and economics full-time on top of my full-time job. I actually still haven’t recovered from being in that sphere. I also just noticed that it has been exactly a month to the day that I announced my hiatus.
Anyway, the ideas have been coming to me quickly. Especially for the next book in the Barbarians of the Storm series that will send Fenrik to 1992 Japan, a shadow reality, and deep into the heart of Sulfur Hell. Compared to the previous Side Quest book Fenrik 1984, this one could be epic in scale and more akin to the previous saga book An Axe to Eat the Gods.
I feel like I’m at a good point mentally to get back on this horse. Starting next week, I am going to devote a lot more time to the development of the book and try to iron out the most important details. In fact, I could even start writing it as early as next week. I’m not sure on that and I don’t want to push myself too hard, but I have reached that point where I need to get working and get this next story out of me.
I’ve been pondering over the last few books and how I wanted to tell these stories and in what order. I believe there will be two saga books after this next Side Quest and that should wrap up the series. However, it could expand by one more. Regardless, I think that these final books will be on the thicker side ala An Axe to Eat the Gods.
I don’t want to give too much away about what is just around the corner. I just wanted to let everyone know who is on this ride with me, that the journey will continue starting next week. I feel much better right now and I want to get this saga done. It’s time.
