Happy One Year Anniversary to "Dan the Destructor"
...the foundation of the "Barbarians of the Storm" book series
It is hard to believe that it has been exactly one year since Dan the Destructor - Barbarians of the Storm, Book I was published. Time has flown by, but a lot has come out of it.
I anticipated having multiple books by now, as long as I stayed the path and remained disciplined, but even I exceeded my own expectations in that regard.
I am on the verge of publishing the fourth book after I finish the final round of edits. I also know what the fifth book is going to be, and am ready to jump right into it, as soon as Swords Against Bastards hits the streets. Plus, I am planning to release a continual stream of short stories with new chapters posted to Substack on a weekly schedule.
I also want to expand the merch, look into other creative avenues for some new things I want to do, as well as some other books that aren’t part of the main BotS series. Some of those books will be related to it, some will not.
2022 was big for me and helped build a strong foundation for what I want Talking Pulp Press to be. 2023 should take things to the next level, as my reach expands with each new release.
Additionally, I’ve learned a hell of a lot over the last year. Luckily, I’ve had more hits than misses, but that comes with being humble, learning from your mistakes, listening to the right kind of criticism, and knowing how to adjust and adapt.
Plus, I have met a lot of great creatives in this space, forged strong relationships, and built something that I believe will be long lasting for those of us who struck while the iron was hot, and put in the f’n work.
Looking back a year, I have accomplished a lot. I have built something worth all the hard work and dedication. I have also gotten some salt from a few contemporaries, which means I must be doing something right. However, dwelling on the negativity doesn’t put food on my table or help me continue to build. Although, the salt does make me stronger, only further motivating me and making me work that much harder.
Thank you to all of you who have given these books a shot, helped me grow, had my back, and frankly, just been awesome as fuck on this journey. I don’t just do this for me anymore, I do it for those of you who enthusiastically talk to me about what I’ve created. I want to keep you invested, I want to make you happy, and ultimately I want to give you something that mainstream entertainment has been grossly lacking for quite some time now.
Glad to see thing going well for you!
