Chapter 1 of "Book II" is Written & Finding the Right Paperback Version of "Book I"
Since I started this to track the progress of the Barbarians of the Storm book series, I figured I should mention that the first chapter of the second book is written. Granted, it is the first draft and will go through various edits. However, it is done and frankly, the first chapter is typically the hardest, as you need to start with a bang and it’s the foundation that the rest of the story is built on.
It took a few days for me to fine tune it and get it to a spot that I’m happy with. I feel like I now have a good launching pad for the rest of the story, though.
Moving forward, I want to write an average of three chapters per week. That actually gives me more time to finish this book than what it took for me to write the first, which I completed in 3-4 weeks.
I had a different process for the first book, though, as I was taking a previously written graphic novel script and expanding it into a pulp novel format, fleshing out scenes and adding new ones to beef up the story and add more depth and context to the larger landscape.
That original graphic novel script was written during the initial COVID lockdowns and pumped out in about five days, but I had nothing else going on for a week or two during that time.
I also wanted to mention that since moving paperback production from Lulu to Amazon, having the new version paired up with the Kindle version on Amazon has been spotty, as some days the algorithm favors the old “out of print” version over the newer Amazon version. The old version has been listed between $12-$20. If you want the correct version through Amazon, you only need to pay $9.95.
Here’s the direct link to the proper paperback version that is still very much in print.
