An Update On the Third Book That's Not "Book III"
Less than two weeks ago, I posted that I wasn’t wasting any time on starting the next book. I also said that it wasn’t Barbarians of the Storm - Book III and that it was instead, a horror-themed, short story anthology. Well, I’ve been really busy plugging away at it so, I figured I’d give an update.
Right now, I’m eight chapters deep into the main story, and just about done with the second act. I’ve flown through it much quicker than I had anticipated but it’s also going to be a longer story than I initially thought because ideas are just going off in my head like fireworks on Chinese New Year.
This might very well be my favorite thing that I’ve written under the Barbarians of the Storm banner. It’s certainly the most serious and darkest thing to come out of the series. This specific tale is devoid of the humor that was in the previous two books, as it doesn’t feature the buddy formula that came out in the banter between Fenrik and Dan.
Many of the stories will serve as origin tales for some of the characters that my readers have already met. There are also new characters in some of these stories that I have future plans for.
The main story will be the longest, most likely. I’m aiming for it to be about half the length of the main stories from the first two books. Beyond that, I’m shooting to do four-to-five other, shorter stories. While I have about a dozen total that I want to do, I’ll eventually have multiple short story anthologies in addition to the core book series and its many volumes.
I’m killing it on time, right now, and the creativity is flowing. Hopefully, I can maintain this trajectory through the other handful of stories, as well.
